Neal is a versatile freelance creative dedicated to crafting compelling visual narratives within Cornwall's dynamic creative and cultural landscape. While often found working solo as a skilled lighting cameraman, bringing stories to life through expertly crafted light, Neal also passionately supports fellow creatives by offering his specialist lighting services. As a photographer, he specializes in editorial, portraiture, and reportage, capturing the essence of individuals and communities with an honest and insightful eye. Beyond capturing content, Neal is a highly proficient non-linear video editor and a passionate colourist, meticulously shaping and refining visual stories from start to finish. His experience as a skilled photo assistant further underscores his comprehensive understanding of the visual creation process. Whether illuminating a scene, capturing a powerful portrait, or meticulously crafting a final edit, Neal brings a wealth of expertise and a collaborative spirit to every project within Cornwall's vibrant creative sphere.

Originally from Belfast, Neal moved to Cornwall for university in 2017 and quickly fell for the landscape and a Cornish maid named Connie. His passion for visual storytelling began in Northern Ireland, where he won a Film4 award for a short film. Since making Cornwall his home, Neal has become a highly sought-after creative, consistently producing beautiful photo and video content that reflects his deep connection to the region.
What I Do
In essence, Neal is a versatile visual content creator, adept at all stages of production. Whether working independently or collaboratively, he expertly handles lighting, shooting, and editing to bring visual stories to life with skill and creativity.
Neal possesses a genuine passion for the art of lighting and is actively developing his skills with the ambition of becoming a Gaffer in the film industry. While early in his career, he is eager to embrace diverse opportunities to learn and contribute. Neal brings practical experience with a range of lighting technologies, including HMI, LED, and tungsten fixtures, alongside a confident command of Profoto and Elinchrom strobes for his photography work. As an independent owner-operator, Neal offers his expertise in various lighting roles, including DOP, Gaffer, Spark, and Lighting Technician, supported by his continuously expanding inventory of lights, stands, diffusion, and control equipment.
